Virgin River has left fans buzzing with theories ahead of the next season, particularly after one conjecture stirred quite a buzz.
The finale of the show’s sixth installment on Netflix featured Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge) and her partner Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson) tying the knot against a backdrop brimming with breathtaking twists and turns.
Amid this, the entangled fates of Dan Brady (played by Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Brie Sheridan (acted by Zibby Allen) ensnared viewers, as Brady unraveled the deceit of his new lover Lark (played by Elise Gatien), only to have a secretive meet-up with Brie. When Lark caught wind of Brady’s avowal of love for Brie during the marriage ceremony, she vanished with his money notwithstanding her prior expressions of affection.
Moreover, the plot thickened when Brie’s latest flame Mike (portrayed by Marco Grazzini) dropped a bomb with a marriage proposal, seemingly in full knowledge of her recent tryst with an ex.
Agog fans are biting their nails over what Brie will say next and the real extent of Mike’s insights, while a Reddit user tossed out an unexpectedly simple theory about the proposals timing.
Offering a starting point for excitement and debate, the fan posted: “I have a hunch about Mike’s proposal and why he said he knew about Brie and Brady….”
The Redditor from the “Virgin River” community put forth: “I know nobody’s gonna agree and I’m probably wrong, but VR is known for hyping something up for a cliffhanger only to kinda disappoint us when the next season comes out.”
One speculative fan shared their hunch: “I think it’s gonna be a twist where he says ‘I know, I know you slept with Brady before we got together. I don’t hold that against you, him and I are on better terms now’. Idk some stupid bologna like that.”
This begs the question – could Mike indeed be referencing a past fling between Brie and Brady?
A subset of fans thinks this speculation holds merit but aren’t exactly thrilled about it. One weighed in: “Oh my god. I could totally see this, it’s not even real yet and I’m already annoyed by it lol. Good theory.”
Sharing a similar sentiment, another chimed in: “I thought/think that too!! But then I go back to how he knew her parents were sleeping together before he actually caught them so I’m like ehhh we’ll see!”
A third voiced their utmost conviction: “No waaaaaayyy. I am sure they will do this now.”
One viewer wasn’t opposed to a breakup, commenting: “Whatever, as long as they break up and she gets with Brady but I’m also sure they will drag this engagement for a long a** time, only to leave Mike at the altar or sth.”
Not everyone is convinced, however. A user countered: “They’ve been seeding him knowing for a few episodes though, especially when he called out her parents before they got caught.”
In their opinion, the more likely direction is: “I think it will be an ‘I know but give me a chance, I won’t disappoint you like Brady blah blah blah’ and then she chooses to be alone and ‘find herself’.”
The debate remains heated among Virgin River fans.
