Per TVLine, showrunner Andrea Newman reveals that the events of the episode could be an important moment for Stella and Severide, and change the way the pair approach their relationship. The episode also brings up an issue that was first tabled between the couple in the season premiere, as well as helping the couple to re-evaluate their priorities. Newman continues by suggesting that Stella and Severide now need to figure out where they are as a couple. Check out her full comments on the matter below:
“They’ve made some promises to each other to not be separated again and not be apart as much as possible, and then this episode does tear them apart. Moving forward, it’s kind of about figuring out where they are as a couple, and the conversations about family really come up in that.
That’s something that they’re dealing with going forward, and big decisions are being made. I think between the events of the crossover and the person from her past coming forward and talking about her past in a way that she hadn’t thought of it before, it’ll impact how she sees her relationship with Severide and how she sees the idea of family going forward.”
What This Means For The Future Of Stella And Severide
The Couple Have Some Serious Decisions To Make
How this impacts the couple moving forward is unclear, but it could prompt either, or both, to consider some sort of career change.
Earlier in the season, Stella told her husband she wanted to have a baby, and the events of the crossover have likely cemented that decision even further. Events of Chicago Fire season 13, episode 9 have seemingly paved the way for a Stella pregnancy arc, and her near-death experience in the crossover might prompt her and Severide to try for a family immediately. This will likely be a turning point for their future and put things into greater focus for both characters in the long-term, which could result in big life changes, and maybe even a fair amount of friction too.
Our Verdict On How Events Will Impact Stella & Severide Moving Forward
The Couple Will Become Even More Inseparable
The fallout from the episode could have long-lasting repercussions for both characters and may deepen their desire not to want to be separated again. There is a good chance this could lead to them re-evaluating putting themselves in dangerous situations. How this impacts the couple moving forward is unclear, but it could prompt either, or both, to consider some sort of career change. One thing is certain, the pair are not going to want to spend much time apart for the foreseeable future, and this is bound to inform future Chicago Fire storylines.
