A Forbidden Love Cut Short: Queen Charlotte Left Danbury & Ledger Fans Wanting

In the course of a theatrical run that has spanned over 4 years, and the same number of seasons spread across the series, the Bridgerton universe has given its fans a lot to be excited about. Based on Julia Quinn’s books of the same name, the series has shown a propensity for keeping fans interested time and again.

With innumerable characters on a journey to find a suitable match (and love), it doesn’t come as a shock that there are moments that leave us yearning for more, alongside moments that leave our hearts content. Chris Van Dusen and his team have done a fantastic job, getting fans hooked.

Bridgerton has always struck a chord with the fans
There have been many tear-jerking moments in the series. Many a time, fans had been left wanting for tissues. Be it the breakdown of Eloise and Penelope’s friendship when the former learns that the latter is indeed Miss Whistledown, or Anthony breaking down when he comes face-to-face with the possibility of bidding adieu to Kate forever.

For all the moments that have left fans red-eyed, there can be no denying that Bridgerton has a fair share of heartwarming scenes to boot. Simon and Daphne’s chemistry leaves everyone in the audience delighted. Anthony and Kate speaking their hearts out during the thunderstorm also ranks highly on the list.

Come to think of it, there are many couples stories whose have really warmed people’s hearts. And ranking rather high on this list is the dynamic between Lord Ledger and Lady Danbury. While Lady Danbury doesn’t enjoy a lot of presence in the Bridgerton series, the spin-off brought her character into focus.

The characters, whose story unfolds in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, are one of those relationships that fans had been rooting for, sharing a forbidden bond. Born out of love and passion, the affair seemed destined for more. But sadly, it wasn’t.

The end of Lord Ledger and Lady Danbury’s affair broke many hearts
Of all the ships that piqued the fans’ interest in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Lady Danbury and Lord Ledger’s will be at the top of many fans’ lists. It was a shame that the bond didn’t go the distance. But that is just one of the many points that bring the duo together in love (and in suffering).

With Agatha Danbury married to Lord Herman Danbury, a man quite older than her, the marriage is nothing but a restraint on her shoulders. Borne out of a transaction made after taking into account wealth and family, the marriage brings her no happiness.

Keir Charles’ character is banished to the same fate as his marriage isn’t something to write home about, as well. Their shared misery is what brings them together in the first place. Moreover, they bond over their shared love for books. It is in the fifth episode of the series that things come to a head.

That is when the duo finally set aside their pretence and embrace the bond they share. It all began with Lord Ledger gifting Arsema Thomas’s character a birthday hat that he had made himself. That was the moment they shared a kiss behind closed doors.

Sadly, that was it. The reality of their circumstances was not lost on them, with the Lord bringing his daughter, Violet, to one of his walks, signifying the end of their romance.

It was indeed a melancholy end to one of the most rooted ships in the series. And if the rumor mill is to be believed, the spin-off is not going to make a comeback. That means the door has been closed on the scintillating affair that they shared. Fans will have to accept that not everyone finds love and moves on to wait for the next Season.
