A huge shock to Hollywood and the music industry: Donnie Wahlberg’s sudden death md20

Boston Blue isn’t done staging Reagan family reunions.

Donnie Wahlberg has confirmed that another key member of the Blue Bloods family will be showing up in Boston to reunite with Danny Reagan in the CBS spinoff series.

During a Tuesday afternoon panel hosted by the Television Critics Association, the actor let slip that Len Cariou — a.k.a. retired police commissioner Henry Reagan — will make his first appearance on Boston Blue in April. And that’s not the only familiar face waiting to pop back up and delight longtime fans.

Wahlberg additionally teased the return of both Danny’s longtime partner and love interest, Det. Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez), and his sister, Bridget Moynahan’s Erin Reagan. Both actresses previously appeared in the spinoff’s pilot episode.

“Grandpa Reagan’s going to be showing up, and Erin’s going to show up again,” Wahlberg told reporters, per TVLine.

He went on to address Danny’s big Boston Blue decision in episode 9, which saw him join the Boston Police Department, complicating his long-distance relationship with Maria.

“I think there are layers to all this still, right? So there is, of course, Maria, and I think they’re figuring things out,” Wahlberg said. “I’m not going to reveal too much… I will just tell you that it’s not resolved, and she will be back in the coming episodes.”

Hinting at the drama between Danny and some of the returning characters, Wahlberg noted that his character’s career change “affects everyone.”

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to CBS for additional details about Boston Blue casting developments.

Blue Bloods ran for a whopping 14 seasons, tracing the lives of the NYPD’s First Family of Law Enforcement: the Reagans. Tom Selleck, who has yet to appear in the series’ spinoff, starred as patriarch and police commissioner Frank Reagan, who led a family of cops dedicated to protecting their city.

Though Selleck — along with several of his Blue Bloods castmates — staunchly opposed the series’ cancellation, he has hinted that he has no plans to reprise his role for its spinoff.

“I don’t know if I would do Boston Blue. That’s another show,” Selleck said in a November 2025 interview. “I think it’s partly my lot in life to make sure Blue Bloods has its place in television history, but I don’t think it’s my lot in life to keep playing Frank Reagan.”
