Chicago Fire Season 13 began by dragging Carver (Jake Lockett) and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) in different directions. Despite their mutual attraction in Season 12, Violet pushed him away, and by the time the show returned, Carver had a new girlfriend, and Violet started dating someone new. Their actions, however, were a smokescreen to their real feelings and desires. Showrunner Andrea Newman told TV Line they will be forced to confront their feelings once that clears. “There’s a lot of drama coming up with the two of them. There’s a lot of repercussions that still are playing out from what happened at the end of last season when she pushed him away, basically,” Newman told the outlet. She added:
“A lot [is going to] happen between the two of them as we head towards the end of the season. They’re trying to figure out where they’re at and where each of their emotional lives are at and how they can connect — if they can connect.”
Where Are Carver and Violet Romantically in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 13?
In the early episodes of the season, Carver returns from Texas with his high school girlfriend, Tori (Holly Hinchcliffe). Despite obvious problems in their lifestyle, Carver did not want to break up with her. “I think for him, it’s the comfort. It’s someone that knows his past. Growing up together, she’s seen the dark sides of him, and she understands how his darkness is. She also has her own darkness. And being able to fully deal with that and not judge him on it, not try to change anything, is an easy way out for him. I don’t know if it’s the best way out for him, but it’s definitely an easier way out for him,” Lockett explained why Carver doesn’t want to let go.
Eventually, Carver and Tori break up when Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) calls him out on his behavior due to too many nights of partying. Tori leaves Chicago. After seeing Carver move on, Violet starts dating Flynn (Steven Strait). In Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 12, she tells Ritter (Daniel Kyri) that he and Dwayne (Samuel B. Jackson) should have joined her and Flynn on a date they had recently, revealing that they are still together. When the show revisits her will they/won’t they with Carver, it will be interesting to see how she navigates her existing connection with Flynn.
