It’s almost time for a new season of Chicago Med on NBC, and in the run-up to the highly anticipated return of the medical drama, we’re piecing together all the teases about what to expect from the season 11 premiere… especially after that jaw-dropping cliffhanger!
Chicago Med season 11 has already been confirmed to resolve the twist about the paternity of Asher’s baby rather quickly and answered the massive question of if the father is really Archer or if it’s actually Ripley. One star offered up a potential spoiler for the storyline and claimed that he’s the father, while the other has kept mum on the subject during the summer hiatus.
In fact, after NBC dropped a handful of first-look photos from the Chicago Med season 11 premiere, a fan-favorite star and character from the series wasn’t featured in any of them. Naturally, seeing a character missing from premiere photos causes concern among fans that they might not be coming back for the new season. But do fans really have a reason to be worried this time?
Ripley isn’t featured in Chicago Med season 11 first-look photos, but Luke Mitchell will be back
Thankfully, there isn’t any cause for concern. Even though Luke Mitchell isn’t featured as Dr. Mitch Ripley in any of the Chicago Med season 11 premiere photos, the actor and his character have previously been confirmed to return for the new season. The only star and character not returning for season 11 is Marlyne Barrett as Maggie Lockwood, which is confirmed with the photos.
While it’s peculiar that NBC didn’t share any photos of Ripley in the season 11 premiere episode, which is titled “We All Fall Down,” it’s not out of the ordinary and pictures of Ripley could be coming closer to the premiere date. Mitchell recently shared photos from set, including one posing with Steven Weber and Nick Gehlfuss, who’s returning as Halstead in a guest star role.
Additionally, Ripley was also featured in the One Chicago preview video that NBC released with new clips from the upcoming seasons of all three shows. Ripley’s seen in the video reacting to Asher’s news about her pregnancy. He’s surprised and wonders why she hadn’t told him. We should probably worry instead about the state of Ripley and Asher’s relationship in season 11.
It’s unclear why NBC didn’t include any photos of Ripley this time around. Maybe the network didn’t want to give anything away about his possible relationship with Sadie, but just a simple snap of him at work in the hospital wouldn’t have spoiled anything for his storylines. After all, the network shared plenty of photos of Asher and Archer talking at work. (Yes, we’re reading into that!)
