A New Flame or Trouble Ahead? Will & Marion’s Steamy Moment Has Fans Talking

Hurricane Rachel brought thunder and lightning to Will Trent. In Tuesday’s (February 11) new episode, Will (Ramón Rodríguez) spent some quality time with Marion Alba (Gina Rodriguez) and it paid off big time — just in time for Valentine’s Day.

There were two separate cases being investigated in the latest episode. On the Atlanta Police Department side, Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) and Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin) spent most of their time tracking down and collecting the mountain of evidence her fixer friend Jon was planting to connect him to a new murder.

Meanwhile, at the GBI, Will worked with Faith (Iantha Richardson) to identify a John Doe whose body was discovered underneath a burned-out building. While Angie and Michael couldn’t be more innocent if they tried, that’s certainly not the case with Will and Marion.

When Marion enters the morgue to identify the body, since the fire was in Grove Park Boys gang territory—which she quickly discovers is impossible due to its condition—Will lights up like a kid on Christmas morning. The two quickly bond over their shared Puerto Rican heritage, and even after he and Faith solve the mystery of the identity and get a confession from the man who killed him, he still tries to keep working on the case.

Even after Amanda (Sonja Sohn) instructs him to turn his theories about arson over to the fire department and move on, Will investigates the fire further and learns that there have been a series of potentially gang-related fires in the area. He takes this information straight to Marion, and they agree that it could be a criminal loan sharking scheme worth investigating.

When Marion accidentally startles Will by touching his face, she apologizes for invading his personal space, saying, “Sometimes, I forget that we just met.” He doesn’t mind, however; instead, he intertwines his fingers with hers and invites her to his house for dinner, which she happily accepts. With that, Will’s little point-scoring exercise goes exactly as he hoped.

It all starts with the two washing dishes after what appears to be a delicious dinner, when the storm begins to rage outside. Will may be startled when Marion touches his face, but when she offers to read his palm, he’s much less guarded. It doesn’t take long for the two to start kissing passionately over the sink, and even after she says she’s ready to leave, they start kissing more.

The episode ends with Angie approaching Will with a request to help her prove that her prime suspect Jon is indeed being framed, as he suspects, and he’s alerted to her plans by Marion, whom she first approached.

Clearly, they’re more than just close friends now, and Angie is the man at the loose end. Still, Will agrees to help Angie pursue her theory by looking through Jon’s mother’s collection of notes, which means they’ll soon be spending more time together.

Could this turn into a love triangle, or is Angie ready to let Will move on—and accept the “liberation” she previously offered him—with Marion? That’s a question for another episode.
