After SEAL Team, David Boreanaz Teases Stylish, Sopranos-Inspired New TV Project

David Boreanaz’s time on SEAL Team is almost over, but the actor already has a new show lined up that sounds drastic different from the Paramount+ drama. Despite SEAL Team season 6 being the perfect ending, the series scored an eleventh-hour renewal.

However, SEAL Team season 7 will include the show. Ever since the news broke, there have been questions about Boreanaz’s next act. He’s had one of the steadiest careers since breaking through in Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997 as a vampire-with-a-soul named Angel. The character’s popularity opened the door for Boreanaz to headline a spinoff that lasted five seasons.

Following Angel’s conclusion in 2004, he switched things up with Bones, starring opposite Emily Deschanel in all 12 seasons until its 2017 ending. Later that year, he transitioned to SEAL Team, and his series regular role will wrap up this year when the final season airs.

oreanaz has had some excellent roles, but he isn’t slowing down. After playing a vampire, a special agent, and a Navy SEAL, he is poised to change direction with his next show.

David Boreanaz’s New Show Sounds Like The Complete Opposite Of SEAL Team (& That’s Great)
During the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, David Boreanaz revealed that he’s working on a new series as a writer but is unsure whether he’ll star in it. Many actors expand their careers by delving into writing and directing.

Thanks to Boreanaz’s 27-year career in episodic television, he has gained first-hand experience of how television is produced. These skills will be useful to help get another series off the ground. Specifically, Boreanaz is keeping story details about the project under wraps for now but admitted to watching “a lot of The Sopranos,” implying that the next project will be nothing like SEAL Team.

Recognizing that such an admission could make people think the show was about the mafia, the actor quickly clarified his inspiration stemmed from the HBO hit’s style instead of its plot. “You know what, I love suits, I love style, I love cars,” Boreanaz affirmed. It’s undoubtedly an intriguing tease but doesn’t give concrete information about the show. Given that SEAL Team doesn’t allow for much fashion because of the setting and the characters being thrust into deadly scenarios, the new series may have some similarities with one of Boreanaz’s former roles.

David Boreanaz’s New Show Tease Is Reminiscent Of His Past RolesOne of Boreanaz’s most celebrated roles was Seeley Booth in Bones. Many procedures have returned years after their climax, meaning there’s always an opportunity for the hit drama to stage a comeback. Bones was a popular series, so bringing it back would be a great way to revisit a beloved show.

Plus, a Bones revival could also answer burning questions. However, given that Boreanaz is penning the script for his next vehicle, it probably won’t be a part of the Bones universe. Knowing he’s thinking more about cars, suits, and style means countless possibilities exist for his SEAL Team follow-up.

That said, Boreanaz could play an excellent fixer for the rich and famous, but Ray Donovan’s success means it’s probably too soon for a similar series. A lawyer is another possibility, but until he gives confirmation, there’s plenty to ponder.

After seven years as the main attraction on SEAL Team, watching what comes next for his career will be fun. Boreanaz has a knack for picking hit TV shows, so his career should continue to flourish if he picks another project that stands the test of time.
