The fan-favorite actress’s return date is confirmed for the Peacock streaming soap.
Days of Our Lives fans can get the tissues ready, because Alison Sweeney is returning as Sami Brady and reuniting with her mom Marlena (Deidre Hall) after the recent loss of her husband John Black (Drake Hogestyn).
Sweeney’s return was confirmed in TV Guide Magazine stating that the actress will visit the Peacock streaming soap on August 5.
Discussing the return, Sweeney said, “I was so devastated that my schedule didn’t allow me to film the funeral scenes for John with the rest of the cast. I’m really glad they were able to make this happen.”
The actress explained how these scenes are very emotional, adding, “It is one of those mom-daughter moments where you really don’t have to say anything, It is just extremely emotional as they hug and cry, and it is really heartbreaking.”
The actress shared her love for the show and character, saying, “I love Sami, I love Salem, I love everyone there, It is a second home to me. l can’t imagine not having it in my life.”
Sweeney will also be returning this fall as the soap celebrates 60 years on air. Some of the other confirmed familiar faces include: Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves), Sami’s twin brother Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), and her son Will Horton (Chandler Massey).
The official Days of Our Lives YouTube account gave viewers a sneak peek at Sweeney’s returns.
Sami is back in town as well. “Well, hello E.J” she says. We then see the reunion of mother and daughter as Sami reunites with her mom after John’s death. “Sami” Marlena says, “Mom” she replied as the two embrace. “I’ve missed you so much” Marlena tells her daughter.
“Where does the time go?” We see Sami ask Eric in front of the Brady Pub.
Days of Our Lives was recently renewed for two additional years by Peacock, confirming the shows future through it’s 63rd season.
