To land the role of Bridgerton’s main love interest for the season is a surefire path to international recognition and a boost to an actress’ career that few other TV shows can offer. Think Phoebe Dynevor (Season 1), Simone Ashley (Season 2), and Nicola Coughlan (Seaon 3). One Aussie actress is about to get a taste of that kind of fame after being cast as Sophie Baek, previously known only as The Lady in Silver, in the Netflix period drama.
In Season 4, the Cinderella-inspired Sophie, who has worked as a maid for the most demanding employer in the Ton, captures the heart of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) at a masquerade ball and so begins what we expect will be a season-long cat-and-mouse, will they/won’t they love story.
“What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome,” Ha told Netlix’s Tudum. “Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”
