Simon Cowell from American Idol, X-Factor, and many other talent shows worked hard for his success. It might not be arrogance that gives him confidence. Apparently, he affirms his self-love every day. Read on to find out more.
Simon Cowell Keeps Going Despite Setbacks
One of the talent scout’s latest projects looks likely to crash and burn. The new Netflix hunt for a boy band doesn’t seem to be going well. In fact, some auditions were already canceled. However, fans know tenacity when they see it. Even if it fails, don’t expect the former X-Factor star to run off and hide. He’s bound to bounce back.
Simon Cowell is well known for brutal honesty with contestants in shows like American Idol and America’s Got Talent. In fact, he seems to be revered and feared because of his success and his cutting tongue. But, the entertainment industry is a tough one. And mostly, those people who know their worth get confident enough to make it.
Gareth Gates Leaks Simon’s Self-Love Affirmation
Gareth Gates appeared on Pop Idol years ago, and he’s the one who spilled the tea about Simon’s self-love affirmation. The news arrived when he spoke with the My Dirty Laundry podcast. Back in the day, a mirror with the words, “You are the most beautiful man in the land,” was on the wall of Simon’s office.
Simon Cowell had made a million dollars by then after a series of setbacks, and Gareth Gates seemed shocked to see the mirror. Wondering if it was a joke he asked Simon if it was “real.” And it was. Relating the story, Gareth said:
The first time I walked into his office, I walked in and I saw on the wall, there was a mirror, and it said on the mirror, ‘You are the most beautiful man in the land,’ I swear… I can see him saying that to himself in the mirror.
Admittedly, it’s not known if the mirror still hangs on the wall. It all took place over two decades ago when Pop Idol landed Gareth Gates a recording contract. Not every musical wanna-be gets that. But, more than one person can thank the former American Idol judge for mentoring them.
Perhaps now that the ancient story emerged, more aspiring contestants auditioning for talent contests might also start affirming their self-love every single day.
