The information was confirmed by her son, Mr. Michael Canntana. Actor Ray Romano, who played Raymond in Everybody Loves Raymond, expressed his condolences to the late artist’s family: “Doris Roberts was an incredibly passionate person. She always had a very professional work ethic not only while acting, but also in teaching the younger generations how to be an exemplary actor. Doris lived with a great love for life and I will miss her very much.”
Born in Missouri (USA), Doris Roberts is one of the icons of American television. Few people know that, before turning to acting, she was a famous Broadway star with plays such as The Desk Set, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers and Bad Habits.
Over a career spanning more than six decades, Doris has appeared in nearly 40 films and 60 television series. She has won a total of five Emmy Awards, including one for her role in St. Elsewhere and four for her role as a caring, loving mother in Everybody Loves Raymond , the highest-rated comedy series in CBS history that ran for nine seasons from 1996 to 2005.
