What did AGT judges say about Ashes & Arrows?

Judge Howie Mandel was originally unimpressed by Ashes & Arrows following their audition performance. His skeptical comments were met with boos from the crowd – and his fellow judges.

“You have great voices, great harmony, but personally, this was a great song in a pub,” Mandel said. “If I was in a bar and you guys were playing I would have the best night ever.”

During the band’s appearance on the quarterfinal stage, however, Mandel was on his feet cheering during Ashes & Arrows’ performance of another original song, “Wild Horses.”

“That was not a pub, that song was great,” Mandel said. “You rose to the occasion.”

Sofia Vergara said she loved the song and called the performance on “another level.” Simon Cowell said the song was “amazing,” and praised band member Jonathan Calhoun’s performance in particular.

How does America’s Got Talent work?

AGT Season 19, in which Ashes & Arrows is competing, is broken down into four rounds: auditions, quarterfinals, semifinals and the final round. Eight two-hour audition episodes, as well as the first episode of quarterfinals, have already taken place this year.
