With one week left until the live shows begin, America’s Got Talent season 19 officially announced which acts made it into the Top 44. This exciting development comes amid recent backlash the talent competition show received after judge Sofia Vergara hit one of her Golden Buzzers for a very mediocre act, sending Schumacher all the way to the live shows without any further deliberation. When AGT returns on August 13, following the conclusion of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, Schumacher will be competing alongside 43 other acts.
America’s Got Talent season 19 announced the Top 44 live show acts, along with details about a brand-new Golden Buzzer twist.

Do AGT Judges Have Too Much Golden Buzzer Power Now?
AGT Golden Buzzers Are Getting Out Of Hand
While the AGT judges got to hit two Golden Buzzers each during the auditions this year, they are being given yet another opportunity for a Golden Buzzer during the live shows, according to People. This time around, hitting the buzzer, which is being called the Live Show Golden Buzzer, will advance a contestant into the finals, bypassing the semifinals entirely. Presumably, each judge will have one buzzer, but considering they broke the rules during the auditions, it’s unclear what might happen in the live shows.
The introduction of the Live Show Golden Buzzer proves that the producers have given America’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Sofia, Heidi Klum and Howie way too much power during America’s Got Talent season 19. When the Golden Buzzers were first introduced back in America’s Got Talent season 9, each judge only had one buzzer. Eventually, the AGT host got in on the fun and received the opportunity to hit a Golden Buzzer as well.
However, for AGT season 19, after he had already used his Golden Buzzer, Simon decided to use his power a second time, which confused and irritated the others. They eventually came to the decision that each America’s Got Talent judge would have two Golden Buzzers to make it fair. However, at this point, everything is getting way out of hand. Simon has unleashed a monster by giving himself and his fellow judges more power than they ever have before. Next summer, when AGT season 20 airs, the producers should go back to one buzzer each and limit the judges’ power.
America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC, beginning August 13.
