America’s Got Talent Season 19 is currently taking a two-week hiatus to make room for coverage of the Paris Olympics. However, the show has given fans a treat while they wait for the lives to begin, in the form of an unaired audition from this season.
America’s Got Talent Shares Unaired Audition
This never-before-seen audition comes from artist Johannes Stötter, who skipped an introduction and instead went directly into the performance. The stage was transformed into a rainforest, with several large animals standing still.
What the judges and audience didn’t realize at first was that those animals were actually humans with painted bodies and faces. Meanwhile, a voiceover narration shared facts about the various creatures (including the macaw, the iguana, and the chameleon), whose habitats are threatened.
After the performance, Johannes stepped out to talk to the judges. Simon Cowell said it was “just stunning,” adding that it “took me a minute to realize” that there were people on stage. Heidi Klum called him “a real, true artist.”
When Howie Mandel asked what Johannes would do next if he made it through to the live shows, he answered, “I can’t tell.” Mandel ended up voting “no” to sending Johannes through, but the other three judges voted “yes.”
When Does Season 19 Return?
AGT fans will have to wait a little bit longer before they see a new episode of Season 19. The show will once again be off the air this coming Tuesday as the Olympics continue. However, the Tuesday after that will mark the start of the live shows.
The lives will kick off on Tuesday, August 13, with a results show airing on Wednesday night. The judges will choose 55 acts to compete in the live shows (including the Golden Buzzer recipients). Eleven acts each will perform across five episodes to determine who goes to the Finals.
The live shows will also feature a twist. For the first time in the show’s history, the judges will be allowed to hit the Golden Buzzer during this round, which will send acts straight to the Finals. Are you excited for AGT to return? Let us know in the comments below.
