America’s Got Talent : What Happened to Schumacher?

The America’s Got Talent giraffe act from the Japanese comedian duo Schumacher surprised everyone. The judges and the audience were absolutely confused about this silly performance that used bodysuits and ridiculous horse heads. Despite being befuddled about the act and calling it “nonsense,” Sofia Vergara suddenly gave them the coveted Golden Buzzer, sending them straight to the live shows. Here’s what happened to Schumacher on AGT 2024 and everything we know so far about this comedy act.
What is the AGT giraffe act Schumacher doing now?
The giraffe and horse act Schumacher is currently preparing for the semifinals, which airs live from August 13 to September 11, 2024. They continue to post silly comedic bits on their TikTok and Instagram.

The comedians of Schumacher are named Ryu Taro and Yuya Gomi. In their on-stage interview, they say that this is the first time they have stepped foot in the United States. They have been a comedy duo for 10 years and the pair met in Japanese school. Yuya is a car engineer, while Ryu is apparently still a student (of what, we’re not sure).
The comedy duo has its largest presence on TikTok, where they have over 25,000 followers and more than 2.5 million likes across a catalogue of videos that date back to July 2018. Some of their most-viewed clips see Ryu pulling a dog mask off of Yuya, Yuya pulling a tablecloth, and the pair turning into a centaur. Perhaps they’ll perform something similar in their semifinal performance.
NBC has yet to reveal which acts that have gone through the auditions will be a part of the live shows. We suspect that the lineup will be announced during or after the 2024 Paris Olympics, which is the cause of the two-week delay in the AGT 2024 schedule.
Hopefully, for the sake of votes, Schumacher will not have to compete against other acts from Japan in the semifinals this season, like Balloon Taro, dance group Sabrina, nearly naked comedian Tonikaku, and the other comedy duo TT Brothers.
