CSI alum Andrew Dettmann has joined new NBC medical drama Chicago Med as executive producer/showrunner. The latest
offshoot in Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise is described as an emotional thrill ride through the day-to-day chaos of the city’s most explosive hospital and the courageous team of doctors who hold it together. This marks the first sole showrunner gig for Dettmann, who will executive produce alongside the Chicago core creative team of Wolf, Matt Olmstead, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas as well as Arthur Forney, Danielle Gelber and Peter Jankowski. The series’ regular cast includes Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Laurie Holden, Nick Gehlfuss, Colin Donnell and Yaya Dacosta.
Dettmann is coming off another big procedural franchise. He spent the past three seasons on the mothership CSI series, most recently as executive producer. Before that, he was a co-executive producer on ABC’s Body Of Proof and worked on CBS’ crime drama Numbers for its entire run, rising through the ranks to executive producer. This marks Dettmann’s return to NBC, where he worked on a couple of shows a decade ago including dramedy Ed. He is repped by Rothman Brecher and attorney Jonathan Shikora.
