Angie’s Baby Decision Changes Everything for Will in the Best Way

All hope might be lost for Will and Angie’s romance after the Will Trent season 3 finale, but that’s for the best (for both of them). Will and Angie have been friends and on-and-off lovers for years, even before the show’s pilot. They met in the foster care system and have been closed ever since. However, the trauma the two Will Trent main characters endured over the years hasn’t exactly been healthy for their relationship, especially because their bond was built on that pain. So, although Will and Angie know each other better than anyone, they shouldn’t be together.

After Will arrested Angie at the end of Will Trent season 2, the two were broken up in season 3. They even started dating other people. Still, the door remains just a smidge open on the possibility of Will and Angie rekindling their romance one day. Following Angie’s major decision in the Will Trent season 3 finale, though, her and Will’s relationship is likely over for good, which is the best thing that could happen to them.

Angie Decides To Have Her Baby With Seth In The Will Trent Season 3 Finale
At the beginning of Will Trent season 3, episode 18, Angie believes she’s having a workshop. Faith tries to reassure her, but the two have little time to fret as they’re in the midst of trying to thwart a bioterrorism attack. It also doesn’t help when Angie gets trapped on the floor where members of said terrorist group, the Founders Front, take Amanda hostage. So, Angie has to focus on saving Amanda (and herself and her baby). Among the chaos, Angie talks to her baby, whom she believes to be a girl, and realizes she’s disenchanted of losing her.

While crawling through the air vents, Angie tells her unborn child (making me cry in the process):

“I’ll make you a deal. I will get us out of here if you stay put. You didn’t win the mommy lottery, but your dad’s a doctor, so there’s that. You should stick around. It could be fun… It’s okay because your mama is the most beautiful, fierce, smart, powerful creature in the world.”

Once all is said and done, Angie gets an ultrasound (with Will there for support) and learns that her baby is okay. She even hears her heartbeat. Angie is beyond happy, and when Seth arrives, she informs him that she has decided to have their baby. The two Will Trent season 3 characters rejoice, telling each other, “I love you,” while Will slips out of the room.

Angie’s Choice Signals The Official End Of Her & Will’s Romance
Following the ending of Will Trent season 3, it feels like Will and Angie’s relationship (at least, their romantic one) is officially over. Something wild might happen down the line that results in them reuniting. However, it’s difficult to imagine any future scenario that ends with them back together, especially now that Angie has chosen to stay with Seth and keep their baby. Angie and Seth tell each other, “I love you,” in the finale, after all.

Even though Angie and Seth’s final scene in Will Trent season 3 doesn’t cement their endgame status, it makes a solid case for their longevity as a couple. So, at least going forward, Angie will be in a happy, loving relationship with her new Will Trent love interest. Meanwhile, Will is single. He and Angie have suddenly arrived at two very different points in their respective lives, and now that Angie has moved on, it’s time for Will to do so, too.

Angie Choosing Seth & Her Baby Allows Will To Fully Move On
Will Trent season 3 ends with Angie and Seth basking in their happiness, and even Will can see that they truly love each other. Yes, Will looks hurt as he walks out of their hospital room. Perhaps this is the push Will needs to let go of Angie and a potential future for them, though. Will and Angie’s relationship was far too toxic to ever work out anyway, meaning Angie’s decision is for the best. Now, Will can move on. He tried and failed to do compared with Marion earlier in Will Trent season 3, but things should be different in season 4.

Gina Rodriguez could reprise her role as Marion in season 4. However, Will receiving a new love interest in the upcoming episodes is the more probable outcome, even if Will and Marion didn’t get much closure after their breakup. Maybe Angie’s big choice in the season 3 finale has paved the way for Will’s true love from the books to arrive in Will Trent season 4.

Will Trent Season 4 Is The Most Exciting Time Yet For Ramón Rodríguez
Ramón Rodríguez’s Will Trent character has spent much of his time on the show fretting over his relationship with Angie. He has had many other worthwhile storylines, of course. But as far as Will’s love life goes, it’s been all about Angie (even when he was with Marion). Now that Angie has essentially set him free in season 3, though, Will can focus on other important parts of his life, like connecting with his birth father, Sheriff Caleb Roussard, or dating someone new.

As mentioned above, Gina Rodriguez could return as Marion to rekindle her and Will’s romance in season 4. But given their history and how their relationship ended, it might be better for Will to find someone new. Aside from Angie, Will has one other important love interest in the Will Trent books. Many have been wondering when and/or if she’ll arrive in the ABC police procedural series, and perhaps Will Trent season 4 will finally be the time for Will (and the viewers) to meet Sara Linton.
