Anna Camp ‘So Happy’ to Finally Share the Screen With Carrie Preston on Elsbeth After Missing Each Other on True Blood md18

After recently joining Elsbeth in a Season 3 guest spot, Anna Camp took a break from filming to celebrate the Scream 7 world premiere.

During Wednesday’s red carpet in Los Angeles, the actress told Deadline she’s “so happy” to get the chance to work with Elsbeth star Carrie Preston after their paths never crossed during their time on HBO’s True Blood.

“I flew in last night and I’m getting on a plane at 1am after this party to go back to Elsbeth,” noted Camp during the premiere at Paramount Studios. “So yeah, it’s so great. Carrie Preston and I, we did True Blood together back in the day, but we never had any scenes together. So, we saw each other and we started squealing. We were so happy.”

While Preston played Merlotte’s waitress Arlene Bellefleur on HBO’s True Blood for its entire seven-season run from 2008 to 2014, Camp played anti-vamp villain Sarah Newlin in Seasons 2, 6 and 7.

Anna Camp On 'Elsbeth' Role With Carrie Preston After 'True Blood'

Playing Juliet Woodbent in an upcoming episode of Elsbeth, Camp described the role as “this very influencer mom. I have like 6 children. I’m a perfectionist. I live in Brooklyn, I make everything by scratch. I’m one of those women that you want to throttle because they do everything by hand. So, it’s really, really fun.”

Given the CBS comedy drama procedural’s musically inclined cast and Camp’s own tenure in the Pitch Perfect franchise, which ended nearly 10 years ago, the actress admitted she’s open to taking on another musical.

“I would if it was the right one,” she explained. “I like things a little offbeat, a little weird, a little wacky, a little strange. So, if there was a musical that had that tone to it, I would be very excited to do something like that.”

In Scream 7, premiering Friday in theaters, Sidney Prescott (Campbell) has built a quiet life for herself and her family, including husband Mark (Joel McHale) and daughter Tatum (Isabel May). But when a new Ghostface comes calling, she has to go back into survivor mode to save her daughter, who is the killer’s next target.

Camp stars in the slasher ensemble as Sidney’s next door neighbor and best friend Jessica Bowden, whose son Lucas (Asa Germann) is a true-crime fanatic obsessed with the original 1996 Woodsboro murders.
