Patel stated, “Those are Daenerys’ eggs… All of us who work on this show are big Game of Thrones fans, so it was very exciting to shoot that scene.” Now that House of the Dragon has confirmed Dany’s eggs are in Rhaenyra’s (more specifically, Rhaena’s) possession, it remains to be seen how the HBO prequel will plant the seeds of Dany’s eggs eventually ending up in the hands of the Pentoshi Magister Illyrio.

It’s unclear whether Dany’s eggs being in the possession of Rhaenyra changes their story, but it certainly departs from the most popular theory and book implication of their origin. While it’s now implied that Danaerys’ eggs were laid by Rhaenyra’s dragon Syrax, it was long understood – but not confirmed – that Dany’s dragons were hatched from Dreamfyre’s eggs, then taken to Essos by Elissa Farman during the reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Helaena’s dragon has largely been missing from House of the Dragon’s story, but Dreamfyre’s theorized link to Daenerys gave her a greater legacy in Game of Thrones’ overall narrative.
