Are you curious about the ceremony that will take place in the final episodes of “Blue Bloods”?

A new behind-the-scenes peek of the Blue Bloods finale hints at some major event coming! Could the series finale involve a huge ceremony?

Blue Bloods fans still hold out mild hope that CBS changes their minds and lets the hit series continue for at least another year. CBS had announced in the spring that the show would end with Season 14 but did bow to the idea of splitting it up with the last eight episodes to air this fall and a December finale.

Those last episodes have pushed a few plotlines, such as how Eddie and Jamie are now considering starting a family and Frank continues to have issues with Mayor Chase. It doesn’t sound like the producers are planning a huge, stunning finale, yet a recent post by Donnie Wahlberg has fans guessing what it could involve.

The post by Wahlberg on his Instagram shows him in full dress uniform as he walks along, talking emotionally about how it feels to be on his final day on set. Further posts showed Wahlberg with the rest of the cast with Will Estes, Vanessa Ray, and Will Hochman likewise in dress uniforms. Meanwhile, Bridget Moynahan, Sami Gayle, and Tony and Andrew Terraciano are also dressed nicely, hinting the Reagans are attending a special ceremony.

Talking to TVLine, showrunner Kevin Wade dropped the hint that this would be a big moment for the series.

“I can only say they’re only in dress blues for certain kinds of ceremonies. And I’ll leave it at that. There is a rather large set piece towards the end of the final episode where they are all in their dress blues.”

So with that tease, just what sort of ceremony could this be?

What’s the big ceremony in the Blue Bloods finale?

There are a lot of options on just what this ceremony could involve. The fact Tom Selleck is absent from the photos hints that it involves Frank, with some wondering if perhaps the NYPD Commissioner is finally stepping down, and this is a big retirement moment. It could also be a special honor for either Frank or his father, Henry, a former commissioner himself.

It could also be someone getting a promotion, as Eddie has been trying to rise up a bit and perhaps become a detective. Or it could be that Joe Hill was likewise boosted in the NYPD, or perhaps Danny was getting promoted himself. The lack of Marisa Ramirez hints that maybe it’s something to do with Baez, so perhaps she’s getting a promotion.

It could also simply be some sort of event to mark an anniversary in the NYPD, and the Reagans are looking good for it. The producers don’t seem interested in some big game-changing event (they’ve never ended a season on a cliffhanger), so it’s unlikely they’ll throw in a shock character death to bring the fans down.

It adds more intrigue to the finale as fans may still hope it’s not totally the end. Yet the big dress uniforms and setup indicate the finale of Blue Bloods will be a rewarding one for fans of the show.
