Hollywood legend isn’t done yet, and he’s making it loud and clear.
At 80 years old, Tom Selleck shows no signs of slowing down. Following the cancellation of CBS’s long-running police procedural Blue Bloods, the beloved actor is reportedly pushing hard to land a role in the upcoming spin-off, Boston Blue — and he’s not taking “no” for an answer.
Sources close to the production say Selleck is “fiercely determined” to remain part of the franchise that made him a household name in recent years. Despite Blue Bloods concluding with its 14th season in late 2024, fans haven’t seen the last of Frank Reagan — at least not if Selleck has his way.
“He doesn’t believe in retirement,” a source told industry insiders. “Tom feels there’s more story to tell, especially with his character. He’s ready to keep going, and he wants in.”
CBS announced earlier this year that Boston Blue, a new spin-off centered around Donnie Wahlberg’s character Danny Reagan, is set to premiere in the 2025–2026 season. While Wahlberg is confirmed to star and produce, Selleck’s involvement has not yet been officially addressed.
But the actor’s dedication to his craft — and the Blue Bloods universe — is unwavering. In interviews, he has repeatedly expressed his love for the show, the cast, and most importantly, the fans.
Social media has erupted in support of Selleck’s potential return, with fans urging CBS to bring back the iconic police commissioner in some capacity. One user wrote, “No Frank Reagan, no Boston Blue!” while another added, “Selleck IS Blue Bloods — give him what he wants!”
Whether or not CBS will make room for the beloved patriarch in the spin-off remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Tom Selleck is not going quietly.
