Famous, But Grounded
While Max Thieriot may star in a hit CBS drama and be the co-creator of one of the most talked-about shows on TV, his real-life priorities are much simpler: family, nature, and meaningful work.
Off-screen, Max is a proud husband and father of two sons. And for him, being a dad comes first — even before acting, producing, or directing.
“The best title I’ve ever had is ‘Dad,’” he says. “Everything else is just extra.”
Life in the Countryside
Max and his wife, Alexis, live far from the Hollywood spotlight. They prefer life in the rolling hills of Northern California — not just for peace and quiet, but because it’s where their roots are.
Their home is surrounded by trees, vineyards, and the kind of beauty that’s both calming and inspiring. It’s also where they raise their children with values like honesty, hard work, and kindness.
“We wanted our kids to grow up grounded — to know where their food comes from, to get their hands dirty, to understand what matters,” Max explained.
A Vineyard Built on Love
Max and Alexis co-own Senses Wines, a vineyard and wine label they built with close friends. But it’s not just a business — it’s a reflection of their passion for nature, craftsmanship, and community.
The vineyard is also a place where Max unwinds when he’s not on set. Tending the vines, walking through the rows with his kids, or having dinner outdoors with family — these moments recharge him.
“It’s peaceful. It reminds me of who I am beyond the screen,” he said.
Fatherhood and Its Daily Joys
Max talks often about the joy (and chaos!) of raising two energetic boys. Whether he’s coaching their sports teams, helping with homework, or reading bedtime stories, Max takes an active role in every part of their lives.
He’s also open about how fatherhood has made him a better actor and storyteller.
“Being a parent teaches you empathy, patience, and how to listen — which are also the keys to good acting,” he explained.
Balancing Work and Family
Filming Fire Country is demanding. Max acts, writes, produces, and oversees many aspects of the show. But even when he’s busy, he finds time to call home, send silly videos, and fly back when he can.
He says it’s not always easy, but his family is his anchor.
“I work hard so my kids can have a life full of love and opportunity. But I never want them to feel like I’m too far away.”
What Makes Him Truly Happy
At the end of the day, Max says happiness for him is simple: a dinner table full of laughter, his kids running through the grass, and the chance to tell stories that matter.
While awards, reviews, and industry buzz may come and go, his family is his forever home.
“Being a dad, a husband, a farmer, a storyteller — that’s the life I love,” Max said. “Everything else is just the bonus.”
