Fergie is marking a new era of motherhood with her son Axl coming into his “preteen” years.
The “Glamorous” singer, who shares her son with her ex-husband Josh Duhamel, celebrated Axl’s 12th birthday on social media Aug. 29.
On Instagram, Fergie shared a series of photos of her son throughout the years, including some never-before-seen snaps.
“Axl Jack, the preteen,” Fergie wrote in the caption. “I am so proud to see how independent you’re becoming and what a kind human you are. Discovering everything you’re into and watching you grow brings such joy…I feel so lucky to be your mom.”
The singer ended her caption on a sweet and sentimental note, writing, “Happy 12th birthday punks! I love you.”
In the first photo of the slideshow, Fergie showed off Axl’s enviable locks spiked up in the front, followed by several photos of the mother-son duo together.
One snap saw Fergie and Axl posing in front of a guitar statue outside of a building that featured the title of The Black Eyed Peas tune “Imma Be.” In another picture, the pair cheesed in front of his birthday cake, while one photo captured the duo posing with the producer, Mustard.
Fergie also gave a glimpse into some of her son’s interests in the birthday post, including a photo of Axl on the soccer field, performing on stage and standing in front of a wall of sneakers.
Duhamel shared a birthday post of his own on Instagram, posting several photos from their trip to Legoland to celebrate the occasion.
“Happy 12th birthday to my buddy boy Axl Jack,” Duhamel captioned the post. “We had a blast at Legoland today. Thank you for making these the best 12 years of my life, kid. I love you.”
Fergie and Duhamel wed in 2009 but announced their split after 8 years of marriage in 2017. Duhamel got remarried in September 2022 to model Audra Mari, with the couple welcoming their first child together in January 2024.
Despite their split years prior, Fergie was nothing but supportive of Duhamel’s new addition to the family.
When the actor and Mari announced that they were expecting their first child together in September 2023, Fergie left a sweet comment on the post, writing, “I am truly happy for you guys Axl can’t wait to be a big brother.”
Duhamel has only had positive things to say about his experience co-parenting with Fergie as well.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in September 2023, Duhamel said, “We both have the same priority and that’s raising a good son.”
“We want him to be a good, kind, compassionate, hard-working, thoughtful young man and we both have that common goal with him,” he added. “And she’s easy to get along with. It’s as simple as that.”
He also celebrated how much of “an amazing woman” Fergie was during an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show,” noting that the singer had “taken” his new wife in.
“That’s the thing, you never know how these things are going to go, but because she’s such a kind-hearted person — she really, truly is — she only has love for Audra and is excited,” Duhamel added. “I can’t believe how excited she is for us.”
