Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds’ Relationship: All About the Ransom Canyon Star and Imagine Dragons Singer’s Romance
Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds had a unique start to their relationship.
The Ransom Canyon actress and Imagine Dragons frontman were introduced by a mutual friend and spoke on the phone for a month before meeting in person. During that time, they traded personal book excerpts and song lyrics, which helped the pair bond quickly.
Speaking with PEOPLE in July 2024, Reynold said he and Kelly are “happy” and credited their success as a couple to “really great therapists.”
“After about a month we met in person, and ever since then, we’ve been attached at the hip,” he shared. “Minka and I are in a really happy, healthy relationship.”
Reynolds was previously married to fellow singer Aja Volkman, while Kelly was linked to Trevor Noah.
Reynolds and Kelly were first spotted together in the fall of 2022 while out for dinner in Los Angeles. While the pair don’t shy away from PDA and have attended a few public events together, they tend to keep the details of their romance private.
In May 2025, Kelly shared a rare peek into their relationship when she told PEOPLE Reynolds helped her learn how to play piano for her Netflix series Ransom Canyon.
“I’ll usually ask my partner to show me how it goes,” she said. “And then he’ll show me where my hands go. Then I’ll just do it over and over again until I’ve memorized it.”
Here’s everything to know about Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds’ relationship.
They were first linked in 2022
Kelly and Reynolds initially sparked romance rumors when they were seen together in L.A. in November 2022. The pair shared a five-hour-long dinner at Cafe Stella and were snapped leaving together in a black SUV.
A few days later, the pair confirmed their romance with another PDA-filled outing. During a walk, Kelly and Reynolds were photographed holding hands.
Kelly and Reynolds met through a mutual friend
In an interview with PEOPLE in July 2024, Reynolds revealed that after a mutual friend first introduced them, they spoke for a month over the phone before meeting up because Kelly was working in the United Kingdom at the time.
In those early days, Reynolds said they grew close through their creative work, with the “Radioactive” singer sending the actress songs from his band’s album Loom while she shared excerpts from her book, Tell Me Everything: A Memoir.
“She’s like, ‘Well, if you’re going to share your art, I can share something with you, but it’s very vulnerable for me. Do you want to do this or not?’ ” he recalled. “She was very scared for me to read the book because we hadn’t met, just as much as I was scared for her to hear a song that I’d written.”
Reynolds added, “But we shared it and then it ended up being a really beautiful thing and brought us a lot closer. I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quite quickly.”
The singer said that reading Kelly’s memoir was a unique way to get to know her.
“It was a really strange and awesome way to meet someone because I was hearing all her life stories from youth to now, and she had a really hard, colorful, beautiful life,” he said. “Getting to read it all before you even meet somebody … I’ve never had that kind of introduction to someone.”
