Benedict & Sophie’s Romance Heats Up: Inside the Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 Trailer dt01

Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) and Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) wade into new depths of romance in the trailer for Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2. “This is maybe not the story that we would’ve expected for Benedict,” says Thompson. “It’s a very different Benedict that we see in Part 2.” Fall deeper in love with Season 4’s main couple when the final four episodes premiere on Feb. 26.

Part 1 ended on a dizzying cliffhanger: Benedict and Sophie’s intense connection finally comes to a head in the Bridgerton House stairwell, prompting the second son to ask a loaded question: “Be my mistress?” Sophie, a hardworking maid whose mother was a maid turned mistress, flees without giving an answer.

Part 2 will shed light on Sophie and Benedict’s headspace in the wake of this offer. As Ha explains, the aristocracy has failed her character before. “She doesn’t trust anyone who says, ‘I promise this for you,’ because that has never been true for Sophie,” says Ha. And, as Violet (Ruth Gemmell) says in the trailer, the consequences are mounting for Benedict too, despite his privileged position in the ton. If Benedict were to choose to be with a maid, he would be forever ostracized from society — and his family. The trailer makes it clear just how high the stakes are for Sophie and Benedict in Part 2. Is true love worth the risk?

Despite the pressure on Sophie and Benedict their mutual feelings are still irrepressible, as the trailer shows. See Sophie let her hair down — and dip her toe into a deeper side of their romance — above.

Thankfully, both Sophie and Benedict have people they can turn to for advice: Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) returns home from India with his wife, Kate (Simone Ashley), just in time to give Benedict some hard-line older-brother advice. (And they bring their baby, the heir to the viscountcy. You can glimpse the tot in the trailer.) Meanwhile, Sophie leans on Alfie (David Moorst), a footman at Penwood House, who encourages her to open her heart to Benedict and shed her baggage. Will she take his advice?

Across Mayfair, Sophie and Benedict aren’t the only characters contemplating sacrifices. Violet and Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) have been enjoying “tea” together, but the Bridgerton matriarch must decide what she really wants in this next phase of life. “She’s spent so much of her life being the emotional anchor for her family,” says showrunner Jess Brownell. “This is her finally allowing herself to ask [for] what she wants.”

In Part 1, Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) asked to leave the ton to travel back to her ancestral home, only for her best friend, Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), to shut it down. Will the queen change her mind and allow Lady Danbury to forge a new path? Will the Stirlings find balance now that John’s (Victor Alli) adventurous cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza) has arrived in London — much to the pragmatic Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) surprise? And of course, what will Lady Whistledown, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), have to say about all of this, now that she’s in the queen’s inner circle?

In the lead-up to the Feb. 26 premiere, come to Tudum to unmask all the Part 2 updates.
