- New episodes will premiere in two parts
When Bridgerton returns with season 4 on Jan. 29, Netflix’s regency romance will center on Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) long-awaited love story.
The show’s fourth season will follow the third book in the Bridgerton book series, An Offer from a Gentleman. In season 3, the show switched up the typical order by following the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
Viewers will watch as the second-oldest Bridgerton child, Benedict, meets the girl of his dreams at a masked ball. Back in August 2024, Variety revealed that Yerin Ha will play Benedict’s love interest, Sophie Baek. In February 2025, Ha told PEOPLE that she and Thompson “work so well together.”
“I think we’ve just bonded,” she said. “We just try to focus on the story and truly accepting each other for who we are — both character-wise and as people — and I think that has helped with the chemistry.”
From the release date to the plot, here’s everything to know about Bridgerton season 4.
Who is in the cast of Bridgerton season 4?
In season 4, Thompson will reprise his role as Benedict, while Ha will play the girl of his dreams, Sophie.
Nicola Coughlan, who stars as Penelope, and Luke Newton, who plays her love interest Colin Bridgerton, are also set to return. They’ll be joined by Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, who play Anthony and Kate Bridgerton, respectively.
In September 2024, Netflix announced three new additions to the cast: Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, a “beautiful, vain, and eager” woman who “sets her sights” on Benedict, and Isabella Wei as Posy Li, her sister who is “much kinder.” Katie Leung will play their mother, Lady Araminta Gun, who is “feeling the pressure” to get one of her daughters married off.
At that time, the streamer also confirmed the return of several cast members, including Ruth Gemmell, Claudia Jessie, Florence Hunt and Will Tilston, along with Golda Rosheuvel, Polly Walker and Adjoa Andoh.
Hannah Dodd, who plays Francesca Bridgerton, will also return, along with Victor Alli, who plays her new husband, Lord John Stirling. Masali Baduza, who joined the cast at the end of season 3 in a surprise role, will also return.

What will Bridgerton season 4 be about?
Bridgerton season 4 will follow Benedict and Sophie’s love story.
In September 2024, Netflix’s Tudum shared that Sophie and Benedict will cross paths at a masquerade ball that she disguised herself to attend, despite the fact that she’s not usually on the Bridgertons’ guest list.
“As a victim of tragic events, Sophie has been forced to spend much of her life working for the most demanding employer in the ton. But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances,” the site shared.
Since Ha is Korean, the character’s name has been changed from what it was in the book — Sophie Beckett — to Sophie Baek.
“To make Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering,” she said. “It’s a really nice way for me to feel like the role is fit for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold.”
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum the same month, Thompson said that the season will focus on “the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world.” He added, “I get really excited by how many unexpected twists you’ll get in Season 4.”
While talking to reporters at the BAFTA Television Awards in May 2025, Coughlan shared that fans can expect “lots more romance” in the upcoming season.
“We got new leads this year, Luke Thompson, who we’re used to, Yerin Ha, who’s new and gorgeous, sort of a Cinderella story,” she said in a video shared on X. “In terms of me, I’ve got a ginger baby. She’s a married woman, she’s a writer, but it’s delightful and gorgeous as always.”
When did Bridgerton season 4 film?
In May 2024, Forbes reported that production began the previous month. In September, Netflix confirmed that Bridgerton’s fourth season had started filming.
At the BAFTA Television Awards in May 2025, Coughlan said season 4 took a bit longer to film than the ones that came before.
“We’re shooting it still, takes a long time to shoot Bridgerton, takes about eight months, this one’s taken nine,” she said. “So it’s a full pregnancy this season of Bridgerton.”
Filming wrapped in June 2025, Netflix revealed in a compilation video posted on X.
Is there a trailer for Bridgerton season 4?

The preview shows the night Benedict and Sophie meet for the first time at a masquerade ball. After he declares her “the most intriguing person I’ve ever met,” he embarks on a Cinderella-style mission to track her down.
How many episodes will Bridgerton season 4 have?
In July 2024, Netflix confirmed that season 4 will consist of eight episodes.
