Bill Cosby Faces Trial for Sexual Assault Allegations

The process in the only criminal proceedings against US entertainer Bill Cosby (78) due to sexual abuse takes place. A judge in Norristown in the state of Pennsylvania decided on Thursday. The lawyers of the actor of the “Bill Cosby Show” had in vain that the statements of those affected were many years old.
They wanted to get a new statement or achieve that the allegations are dropped. “We have enough for a process,” said prosecutor Kevin Steele. “Justice has been delayed too long. If I could, I would choose a jury tomorrow and advance the case.”

Bill Cosby did not comment
Cosby’s lawyers, on the other hand, announced: “Today, the constitutional right of a man who gave so many has been trampled around.” Cosby, who appeared in court for the second time in Norristown, did not comment.

Cosby threaten several years in prison
The hearing was the latest attempt by Cosby’s defenders to avert the impending process. With his decision, judge Steven O’Neill maintained the decision of judge Elizabeth Mchugh from the end of May, according to which the former university employee, who accuses Cosby of misuse, did not have to testify again before a process. A date for the start of the process has not yet been determined. In the event of a conviction, Cosby threatens several years in prison.

Tablets administered and sexually harassed
The woman accuses the entertainer of giving her in 2004 tablets and then sexually harassing her in his house. In 2006, both sides had already agreed out of court, then district attorney Steele rolled up the case again. The former university employee is now 43 years old and lives again in her Canadian homeland.

50 women accuse Cosby
In total, more than 50 women accuse Cosby of sexual abuse. The alleged cases are partly decades ago. So far, the actor has mostly rejected the allegations through his lawyers. Dozens of women have strained against Cosby civil proceedings.
