After a series reaches 10 years, as Blue Bloods has, people start talking — usually it’s people with time on their hands, who like to stir the pot and act like they are an insider. Some have suggested Tom Selleck being on the cover of this and being interviewed by so and so has some ominous reason. In my opinion, it’s just the lead character spreading the good news that season 11 is in the works.
“I don’t think there is an end point,” Selleck, 75, who plays law enforcement family patriarch Frank Reagan, tells PEOPLE. “I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older.”
The actors who play part of the family have become friends in real life, making it difficult to get through Reagan family meeting scenes.
“Our dinner party scenes are like a reunion of friends,” Selleck says. “Sometimes it’s hard for the directors to get us to concentrate. We do the work, and we do it well, but we’re also screwing around and kidding each other and catching up. What we have is truly a blessing.”
The tenth season has recently released on DVD and the plot lines and acting are still superb.
Each season typically has 22 episodes, but due to production being halted during the COVID-19 pandemic, episode 19 served as the de facto season 10 finale.
