In a surprise announcement that delighted fans, CBS has officially ordered a new spinoff series titled Boston Blue, carrying on the legacy of Blue Bloods. The new show will star Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, taking his character from the streets of New York City to a brand-new setting: Boston, Massachusetts.
The original Blue Bloods ended its 14-season run in 2024, and while fans were heartbroken, CBS clearly wasn’t done with the Reagan legacy. The new series is described as a spiritual and narrative continuation, with Danny Reagan now working cases in Boston alongside a new partner: Detective Lena Peters, played by Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery, The Walking Dead).
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach stated, “The Reagan name is too iconic to fade. With Boston Blue, we get to explore Danny in a new city, with new challenges, while staying true to the tone and themes that made Blue Bloods so successful.”
