“Blue Bloods” returns to CBS on December 4 for its 11th season, and the show’s new trailer gave more than a teaser into the cast’s upcoming challenges, some of which started at the end of the previous season.
Action-packed drama awaits, as the premiere will kick off by addressing current real-life topics faced, in addition to a new cast member and the return of a previous one to the show.
Whoopi Goldberg joins the cast as City Council Speaker Regina Thomas, and she faces Tom Selleck’s character, Frank, as protests against police brutality erupts. Eddie has his hands full with an abrasive woman while the search is on for Baez and Danny.
Fans haven’t seen a new episode of the police crime drama since May 1, and even though they are eager for the upcoming season to start, they are not altogether pleased with Goldberg’s addition to the show. Sharing their dismay, some fans wrote:

ANOTHER NEW PLAYER IN TOWN
While Goldberg makes her return to “Blue Bloods,” Will Hochman joins the show for the first time as a member of the Reagan family no one knew about until a family tree project revealed the latest twist in the storyline.
As the son of the late Joe Reagan, Joe Hill got invited to the family’s weekly Sunday dinner at the end of season 10. In the upcoming season, he joins Jamie as they try to locate Danny and Baez, who had gone missing.
FAMILY DINNERS?
While the upcoming “Blue Bloods” storyline address social issues faced in the world today, including the pandemic and police brutality, it brings to question how it affects the popular weekly family dinners.
The genial improviser needs every trick in his book to bring international criminals at a glamorous resort to justice.
With social distancing protocols, it’s unclear whether fans will get to see the Reagans eat side-by-side at the dinner table like they used to. However, since its such a popular part of the show, the cast and crew will make it work if they can, as Donny Wahlberg previously said:
“One of the great things about Blue Bloods is people talk about it for the family dinner scene. I think that’s where people connect with it most, but it’s still a cop show.”
TRIPLE THREAT
Also returning to CBS with brand new episodes on December 4 is the third season of “Magnum P.I.,” and season 5 of “MacGyver,” both crime-fighting shows as well.
In the new season of “Magnum P.I.,” fans can expect loads of action as Higgens and Magnum try to find the brother of a shot surgeon through their signature charming ways.
The rebooted 80s show “MacGyver” also kicks off with a bang as the genial improviser needs every trick in his book to bring international criminals at a glamorous resort to justice.
