“Blue Bloods” Season 14 ends: Is there a “miracle” for Season 15? What does CBS “reveal”?
Is Blue Bloods Coming Back for Season 15?
It was announced that Blue Bloods would not be returning for season 15. However, CBS announced that there will be an offshoot slated for the 2025-2026 broadcast season.
Season 14 began airing its final episodes in October 2024. Nobody was more devastated than the cast and crew of the CBS series that a season 15 would not be happening.
But up until the very end of season 14, a couple of the show’s stars were holding out hope that the series would get picked up by another network.
“Of course, we are sad, but you never know,” cast member Abigail Hawk told Screen Time. “I mean, yes the set is gone, but with the professionals we have in our industry it would take two seconds to rebuild a set like that if it came to that.”
“So there’s still a little teeny bit of a silver needle somewhere in the hope haystack and I’ll hang on to it,” she continued.
Tom was also devastated by the show’s cancellation.
“I think the resolve is there,” Abigail said. “We know that it’s done, but, like Tom Selleck’s memoir, his memoir’s titled You Never Know. And I think that hope can move mountains.
“There’s a void left by our show. And I think that, in time, the higher-ups will come to regret it,” she shared.
Abigail believed that there were “so many stories that are left to tell” on Blue Bloods.
“Because that’s the beauty of these characters. Life just continues,” she remarked.
A ‘Blue Bloods’ Offshoot Was Announced
In February 2025, CBS announced that Tom’s onscreen son Donnie Wahlberg would be starring in a Blue Bloods offshoot with the working title Boston Blue.
“In BOSTON BLUE, a universe expansion of the long-running top drama BLUE BLOODS, Wahlberg will reprise his role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family,” a press release said.
It was not immediately made clear if any other Blue Bloods stars would be making cameos on the new series.
When Did the ‘Blue Bloods’ Season 14 Finale Air
The series finale date for Blue Bloods was December 13, 2024. In the emotional episode, the Reagan’s all worked together to take down a gang leader who was ravaging New York City. Unfortunately, Officer Luis Badillo was shot and killed in the line of duty. The NYPD gathered at his funeral for a proper sendoff. At the end of the episode, Jamie Reagan and Eddie Janko-Reagan announced they were expecting a baby together while at family dinner.
What Show Replaced Blue Bloods in the Friday Night CBS Lineup?
CBS announced that S.W.A.T. would be taking over the Friday, 10 p.m. time slot on CBS in January 2025. S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore and is currently airing its eighth season on CBS.
What’s Next for the ‘Blue Bloods’ Cast?
Since Blue Bloods has been such a huge part of the lives of all of the castmates, all eyes are on the actors to see what they do next as production on Donnie’s new show gets underway. Tom hinted that he would be interested in reviving his popular Jesse Stone character. Fans have been begging for another movie in the franchise.
“It looks like now I might have to write [a script for another movie]” he told TV Insider in October 2024. “It wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it. Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later. But I need to regroup; I don’t know what’s next, but assuming the phone doesn’t stop ringing, I’m going to keep working.”
Obviously, Donnie will be focused on continuing the franchise with his new series.
