A Blue Bloods actor has opened up on what memory he took away from the CBS set after the show’s demise after 14 years.
The beloved police drama Blue Bloods was a staple on CBS for more than a decade, following the lives of the Reagans with New York police commissioner Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) at the heart of the family.
As well as what goes on in their professional and personal lives as individuals, every Blue Bloods episode saw the Reagans gather together around the dining table at Frank’s house to discuss the events of that week.
This grew to become a key fixture in the show with Blue Bloods ending with the entire family around the iconic dining table one last time.
But when it came to say goodbye to the set for good, Danny Reagan star Donnie Wahlberg left with more than just a fond farewell.
He told People: “I really had no intention of taking anything from the set until I learned that table and chairs was just sitting in a warehouse somewhere.”
The 55-year-old shared that fans of the show will be able to see the Blue Bloods table and chairs as he plans to rotate them around various Wahlburgers locations, the diner owned by himself and his brother actor Mark Wahlberg.
“I’ll set it up where fans can sit at the table and take pictures,” he commented. Donnie will initially be placing the table and chairs at the restaurant in St Charles, Illinois where he and his wife Jenny McCarthy reside.
The Wahlbergers’ diners are not going to be the permanent home for the Blue Bloods props, however.
The star went on to clarify: “I’m going to raffle it probably for charity for the DEA, the Detectives Endowment Association, for the Widows and Children’s Fund.”
As of yet, there has been no announcement regarding when the table and chairs are going to be auctioned off but they’re bound to make a sizeable sum for the worthy cause.
As well as the dining room set-up Wahlberg also took a couple of his character’s suits which he’ll put on mannequins and have displayed at Wahlberger’s.
