“Blue Bloods”: What Will Happen to Joe Hill? Will Hochman Makes Audiences Curious

Will Hochman, the actor behind the Blue Bloods character Joe Hill, shared a couple of interesting tidbits about what will happen in the show’s final episodes.

“I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say,” he admitted during an interview with TV Insider published on Monday, November 18, when asked how the show ends. “But I will offer that the five seasons that Joe has been a character on Blue Bloods has been a necessary journey for him. Joe had so much to learn. So did I.”

“The show ends with Joe having arrived more fully into his own life, feeling grateful for this group of people he finally gets to call his family,” he explained. “He gets to claim them as his own and be claimed as one of theirs.”

While his answer was a bit vague, it seems like Blue Bloods has been setting up a redemption arc for the character throughout season 14. In episode 15 of season 14 titled “No Good Deeds,” it became abundantly clear to viewers that Joe and Danny Reagan’s rapport was growing stronger, though they initially got off on a weird foot.

“Since Joe first met his Reagan family, he’s gone through a steady whirlwind of change and, importantly, growth,” Will, 32, said of what Joe has learned from the Reagan family throughout the seasons.

“The more cases he works with his family, the more he learns not only about the job but about himself. He has, thankfully, matured,” the Feud actor added. “There has been less to prove and more to give and so much of that growth has come from working with Danny and Jamie on the job, and from the meaningful conversations they share in those in-between moments.”

While Joe may not have necessarily been Danny’s first choice when picking a person to work with in the field, the latest episode revealed that Joe is willing to prove himself to his family.

That brings us to the lingering question of whether or not one Blue Bloods character will get killed off during the season. We’ve seen plenty of characters come and go over the years, but losing a main cast member in the show’s final season would be a new kind of heartbreak.

Based on how far Joe’s character has come in building relationships with the Reagan crew and finding his footing in the business, we think he is safe. It would seem like quite the step backward for the character if he ended up dying in the show’s final season.

However, other characters might not be so lucky. There is a popular theory circulating online that the outlook could be grim for Luis Badillo, who is portrayed by Ian Quinlan in the show. In the trailer for the final episodes of Blue Bloods, it appears Luis is on the ground in uniform with a gun by his side as someone rushes to his aid. Still, we can obviously not be sure of the outcome until we see the rest of the episodes air on television.
