“Boston Blue” Expands Its Cast With Powerful New Characters — Including a Broadway Star

CBS has revealed exciting new cast members joining the highly anticipated Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue, and the choices are already turning heads — particularly with the casting of Aria James, a rising star from the world of Broadway.

James, best known for her role in Hamilton and her Tony-nominated performance in American Daughter, will portray Detective Alina Vega — a seasoned, sharp-witted Boston detective with a reputation for breaking the rules to get results. Vega’s backstory is rooted in the South End of Boston, where she grew up around crime and poverty before joining the force.

“Vega’s loyalty is to the city, not the politics,” said James. “She’s unapologetic, street-smart, and deeply protective of the people no one else is looking out for.”

Also joining the series are:

  • Wes Ramsey (General Hospital) as Deputy Commissioner Jace Harlan, a political strategist who’s more concerned with optics than justice.

  • Eka Darville (Jessica Jones, Power Rangers RPM) as Officer Milo Grant, a rookie idealist struggling with the realities of urban policing.

The dynamic between Danny Reagan and these new characters is expected to form the emotional backbone of the show. According to insiders, Vega and Danny will often clash — but with mutual respect.

“Think Danny meets someone just as stubborn and passionate as him,” teased Wade. “Their chemistry will light up the screen.”
