
CBS has officially announced a new television series titled Boston Blue, a spin-off of the popular series Blue Bloods, set to premiere in the fall of 2025.
Danny Reagan’s Return to Boston
After Blue Bloods concluded in December 2024 following 14 successful seasons, Boston Blue marks the continuation of this beloved universe. In the new series, Detective Danny Reagan, portrayed by Donnie Wahlberg, transfers from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department, embarking on a new chapter in his career. This time, he partners with Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green.
Lena, the eldest daughter in a family with a long-standing law enforcement tradition in Boston, is seen as a rising star within the force. The dynamic between Danny and Lena promises exciting action sequences and intriguing professional chemistry.
A Connection to Blue Bloods and High Fan Expectations
Donnie Wahlberg shared that Boston Blue will carry on the tradition of Blue Bloods, with the Reagan family’s presence remaining a significant element. He emphasized that despite changes in the setting and some characters, the spirit and core values of the original series will be preserved.
Production Team and Release Schedule
Boston Blue is produced by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, with executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, and Donnie Wahlberg. The show is scheduled to air at 10 p.m. on Fridays on CBS, the same time slot previously occupied by Blue Bloods. Viewers will also be able to watch the series on Paramount+.
