Brace for Impact: ‘Will Trent’ Finale Unleashes Biological Attack on Atlanta

There are only three episodes left in Will Trent’s final season, and it looks like we’re in for a major disaster when the finale comes to an end. The description for the finale, “Listen to the Heartbeat,” has been revealed, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be dealing with an unprecedented disaster in the episode, which airs Tuesday, May 13.

The episode synopsis tells us, “A domestic terrorist group has unleashed a mysterious biological attack that’s wreaking havoc in Atlanta. As Will [Ramón Rodríguez and his team race to stop the threat and save countless lives, he’s forced to confront the complicated dynamics of his own family.”

Of course, Will’s family has always been a complicated situation for him. In Season 2, he met his uncle Antonio Miranda (John Ortiz). He also learns that the serial killer, James Ulster (Greg Germann), who killed his mother when Will was a child has claimed to be his biological father. Comparing your own biology to a biological attack in Atlanta is a bold bit of storytelling, right?

Rodríguez previously told TV Insider about the finale, “It’s very exciting. It comes to a really big thing — it comes to a conclusion. A lot of things come to a conclusion. What’s interesting — aside from Will still processing and coming to terms with what happened to Marco, which will continue — there’s going to be some other personal issues that are going to happen with Will that are really interesting and hopefully will lead us into a really interesting Season 4. That’s great. It’s a season two again, so there’s going to be some storylines that will continue — in terms of the case — in the last two episodes, but we’re going to have some interesting characters that are going to come into our world.” He also added, “I think it’s going to keep people really excited to see what happens next.”

Before the finale ends, there are still two more episodes to watch. This Tuesday, April 29, the episode “Push, Jump, Fall” will air and is described as follows: “Will and Faith [Iantha Richardson] fight to clear an innocent woman’s name while uncovering a deadly drug ring. Meanwhile, Angie [Erika Christensen] falls apart after a traumatic event, and Ormewood [Jake McLaughlin] grapples with his diagnosis, unsure how much to share with those closest to him.”

This episode will certainly pick up where the previous one left off, with Angie grappling with the death of her abusive mother and Michael still trying to figure out what his cancer diagnosis will mean for his future.

Airing May 6 is the penultimate episode, directed by Erika Christensen herself, titled “Why, Hello, Sheriff.” The description for that episode, which is the first half of a two-part finale, reads: “While investigating a murder in a rural town and clashing with the local sheriff, Will uncovers surprising truths about his past. Meanwhile, Angie makes a surprising discovery and Ormewood continues to struggle with his diagnosis.”
