Virgin River fans are convinced that the cryptic titles of season six’s episodes hold a major clue to a big twist for Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge).
The episode titles, listed alphabetically, include: Brothers & Sisters, Ghosts, Going Overboard, Hope Springs Eternal, I Climbed a Mountain and I Turned Around, Love Story, Prelude to a Kiss, and The Big Day.
Although the order of these episodes hasn’t been confirmed, viewers are particularly intrigued by one episode, The Big Day, which they believe hints at Mel and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) getting married in season six.
However, it’s the title Brothers and Sisters that has sparked the most speculation, with fans theorising that Mel might have a sibling she didn’t know about who could already be living in Virgin River.
One fan speculated on Reddit: “Do we know what episode number this is meant to be? I think it might be Everett (John Allen Nelson) telling Mel she has some more siblings.”
Another fan suggested: “Everett confesses that he also had an affair with Charmaine’s (Lauren Hammersley) mum that’s why he’s estranged from VR as he and Doc (Tim Matheson) got into a fight over it. And Mel has another sister (from Portland).”
A third fan added: “I think it’ll be the arrival of Jack’s other sisters and maybe Everett telling Mel she has a brother and they arrive for the wedding.”
Another fan went one step further to suggest: “Maybe she has twins a brother and a sister?”, reports the Express.
While an incredibly outlandish theory could spark a huge uproar amongst the fanbase if it turned out to be true.
“Mel’s dad confesses to her that he also has a son living in Virgin River and he thinks it may be Jack!!!!!!!!” one viewer looking to stir up some drama wrote.
When another user exclaimed “OMG! ” the original commenter replied: “I mean, would you really be surprised????? The VR writers are insane half the time!”
But another wisely insisted: “This is Virgin River, not Game of Thrones!”
A significant section of fans is definitely crossing their fingers for another surprise addition to Mel’s life.
Nevertheless, the consensus is that the “Sisters” part of the title refers to more revelations about Jack’s family, while “Brothers” might allude to his marine pals.
All eyes are peeled for what unfolds in the upcoming season when Virgin River streams back to our screens later this year.
Virgin River season 6 is coming to Netflix in 2024.
