We still don’t know when Virgin River is returning to Netflix for Season 6, but why wait for new episodes when you can start having your own adventures in the titular locale?
The streamer on Tuesday released the official trailer for an all-new mobile game set in the world of the hit drama series, giving players the ability to create a character and embark on their own small-town journey. Launching May 29, Netflix Stories: Virgin River is a “choose your own adventure”-style game that will be free to play for anyone with a Netflix subscription — no in-app purchases necessary.
“Escape to the comfort and beauty of Virgin River to find romance and camaraderie where you least expect it,” reads Netflix’s official description. “Stuck in a dead-end job and nursing a broken heart, you know you need to make a change. When fate leads you to Virgin River, what starts as a short trip blossoms into much more. Interact with your favorite characters and make choices that help you discover what’s been missing in your life: community, fulfillment and, ultimately, true love.”
The Netflix Stories app has previously rolled out several games based on other hit shows, including Money Heist and Love Is Blind.
Virgin River’s fifth season wrapped in November 2023 with a two-part Christmas event that introduced several major developments for the town’s (mostly) beloved residents: Mel met her estranged biological father, who apparently has a secret to share; Lizzie confirmed that she and Denny are expecting a baby girl; Wes’ body was discovered, sending Preacher into a panic spiral; we learned that Lark is merely dating Brady as part of a massive revenge plot; Doc renewed his vows with Hope; Charmaine actually gave birth to her twins (both of ’em!); and Jack granted Mel’s childhood wish for a pony by giving her a puppy… named Pony.
