ABC shored up its fall schedule with horny doctors on cruise ships and a genius cleaning lady who became a master detective, but when do Will Trent and The Rookie return? ABC has announced its 2025 midseason schedule, and it won’t take long to reunite with some of your favorite dramas. Will Trent, starring Ramón Rodriguez as Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Will Trent, returns Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 8/7c, while The Rookie, starring Nathan Fillion as a cop who is no longer a rookie, airs later that night at 10/9c. Kaitlin Olson’s new procedural High Potential will return from its break and air between Will Trent and The Rookie.
Returning to ABC will be former Home Improvement star Tim Allen, who stars with Kat Dennings in Shifting Gears, a comedy about a widower (Allen) and owner of a car restoration shop who takes in his estranged daughter (Dennings) and her kids. Shifting Gears premieres Wednesday Jan. 8, just before the return of Abbott Elementary. The new season of The Bachelor, featuring Bachelorette Season 21 contestant Grant Ellis, kicks off on Monday, Jan. 27. 9-1-1, Doctor Odyssey, and Grey’s Anatomy will each return on March 6, American Idol is back March 9, and the farewell season of The Conners will return on a date to be determined in March.
ABC is also squeezing some extra content out of its streaming service Hulu by airing Season 2 of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez’s Only Murders in the Building starting Jan. 2, and the reality hit The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives starting Jan. 27.
