Fans of the hit Netflix series Virgin River are still confused by some key details of the show, including how quickly all the drama appears to take place.
Virgin River fans are baffled after realising the events of the small-town Netflix romance’s first five seasons have apparently taken place over the course of just a year.
Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) first moved to the idyllic town in 2019 and quickly struck up a romance with former Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
Since then, they’ve had their fair share of hurdles, including several clashes with Jack’s ex Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), who convinced all their friends she was having Jack’s twins.
The town was even threatened by a raging forest fire in season five, but thankfully the day was saved thanks to some quick thinking by mayor Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole).
Despite the gripping drama and irresistible romance, many viewers are still shocked that the events of Virgin River’s first five seasons have taken place within a surprisingly short timeframe.
One fan took their gripes to Reddit recently as they also highlighted some major red flags in the show’s central relationships.
“All this?!” they exclaimed in the title, before continuing: “I’m finishing up season 5 and I’m just figuring out that all this is happening in a year?!
“Ppl get stabbed, fire etc…. this is the prettiest town but a literal black hole of bad luck…
“All the couples need to break up especially Jack and Mel because all that drama in the first few months is a sign to move on.”
However, they finally conceded: “Overall I love the show but geez.”
While there’s plenty of unexpected craziness to be found in Virgin River, thousands of viewers are still lapping up the cozy, small-town vibes and can’t wait for the series to return for its sixth season.
But, many fans still had to admit the show’s breakneck pacing sometimes leaves them with whiplash.
“Right??? It’s like we’ve been watching for 5 years and it feels like Charmaine’s pregnancy has lasted just as long…” another user replied.
“Only to realise that ALLLL this has happened in less than 12 months!”
And a third said: “The timeline is absolute nuts. If my sister got engaged and pregnant by someone she’s known for like six months less than a year after her husband died, I’d think she’s having a mental breakdown.”
Fans will still be seated for the sixth season, coming to Netflix before the end of this year, even if some of them can’t help but feel it’s gone off the rails in recent years.
