‘Bridgerton’ Recruits Former Harry Potter Actress Katie Leung for Season 4

The Bridgerton multiverse has expanded.

On Sept. 16, Netflix announced that production on season 4 of the hit series had officially begun in London, with Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha leading the season as Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek. The streamer also announced several new faces who are joining the Ton for season 4, including Harry Potter alum Katie Leung, who will take on the role of Lady Araminta Gun.

The 37-year-old Scottish actress will portray the “twice married and twice widowed” Lady Araminta Gun, whose two daughters Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei) are “debuting on the marriage mart this season.”

Lady Araminta is “feeling the pressure to get at least one of [her girls] married off,” and her eldest daughter Rosamund “sets her sights on Benedict Bridgerton.”

Fans will recognize Leung from her role as Cho Chang in five of the Harry Potter films. She made her big screen debut in the series during 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where she captured Daniel Radcliffe’s eye romantically but was instead pursuing Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson).

Cho and Harry later struck up a romance in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, though he sealed the deal more squarely with Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) by the end of the series.

Bridgerton season 4 explores the second-eldest Bridgerton brother’s love story, as Benedict is “loath to settle down” despite his brothers Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Colin (Luke Newton) “both being happily married.”

Benedict’s opinion on marriage changes, though, when “he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

Thompson, 36, told Netflix’s Tudum that Benedict and Sophie’s story explores “the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world.”

“I get really excited by how many unexpected twists you’ll get in Season 4,” Thompson said as he teased that one “big” twist he “can mention is this one masquerade ball…”

Season 4 sees a majority of Bridgerton‘s cast return, including all the members of the titular family that were in season 3, though Simone Ashley, who plays the Viscountess Kate Bridgerton, is not confirmed for the upcoming season.

A source told PEOPLE that Ashley, 29, “adores her Bridgerton family and cast and would be happy to come back at any point if storyline allows.”

Seasons 1-3 of Bridgerton and its spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, can be streamed on Netflix. All eight Harry Potter movies can be streamed on HBO Max.
