The Most Anticipated New Character in Bridgerton Season 4

Bridgerton season 3 is almost over, so excuse me while I prepare to re-enter reality and deep depression mode. The slow burns, Regency Era-style foreplay scenes, and orchestral versions of Ariana Grande hits are my primary sources of happiness… whatever is a smut-loving, chronically single woman to do when there are no new episodes?? My current plan is to rewatch season 3 an unhealthy amount of times and then obsess over the next season, which does exist. Season 4 was confirmed back in April 2021, thank heavens. As the book girlies know, the show has only covered three of eight Bridgerton books, so there’s plenty of delicious drama to come and I need it right. Now. We’ve yet to watch the stories of Benedict, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, and Gregory.

Stans everywhere are flooding the internet with their burning questions about the upcoming season. When are we getting it? Who’s the next Kanthony or Polin? Which cast members are returning? Will the storylines be gay? To cope with the harsh truth of season 3 nearing its end, I went on a quest for answers: Here’s everything to know about Bridgerton season 4.

All About Bridgerton Season 4

When Is Bridgerton Season 4 Coming Out?

Wellll, if they’re following the same torturous release schedule — a new season every two years — we’d get season 4 in 2026. But I’m gonna choose to deny that likelihood cause that doesn’t work for me. I needed the season yesterday. The good news? Executive producer Shonda Rhimes said that they’re trying to hurry the fuck up. “We’re really working on the idea of if this is the field we live in, then how do we make the field faster?” she told Variety in May. Yes, Shonda. Exactly the right question to ask. “And so we really are thinking about stuff such as permanent sets and lots, and things like that that will really help us speed the process up.”

Back in April, showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed that season 4 was already in production. While speaking with Refinery29, she said, “We actually don’t know when it’s gonna drop. We’re still making sure that we write the best possible script that we can before we start production. But we’re really thrilled with what we’ve been working on.” Sigh. We’re certainly not getting season 4 soon.

What Is Bridgerton Season 4 About?

Claudia Jessie as Eloise in 'Bridgerton'

There are three major theories about which character season 4 focuses on: Benedict, Eloise, and Francesca. All three of the sibs have a lot going on in season 3 — Benedict enjoys his random fling with Lady Tilley Arnold, Eloise navigates her intense friendship crisis with Penelope, and Francesca’s busy falling for her awkward but adorable soulmate, Lord John Stirling. Personally, I’m rooting for Benedict or Eloise next and would like queer love stories for both of them. Please help me manifest that, thank you.

Will There Be Queer Storylines In Bridgerton Season 4?

Nothing’s confirmed yet, but it sounds like there’s a real possibility! In April, Jess the showrunner told Pride that she plans to queerify Bridgerton. “I want to see more queer joy on my screens and that was definitely a priority for me when I stepped into the showrunner role,” she said. “How exactly that plays out over this season and the next couple seasons, I can’t say specifically, but I will say I’m excited for fans to see that.” Omgggg.

Who’s In The Cast Of Bridgerton Season 4?

Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan as Colin and Penelope in 'Bridgerton'

We can all breathe a sigh of relief because Polin (Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton) will be back! “They’ve told us we’re back for season 4, which is super lovely,” Nicola told The Wrap in May. “[We’ll] pop back and have some fun for sure.”

No one is else is confirmed yet, but I’m gonna go ahead and assume that a lot of the main crew will be back: Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Bridgerton), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), etc. We shall just have to wait and see who’s the star next time… #prayforbenedict #prayforeloise.
