Netflix has confirmed that “Bridgerton” Season 4 will spotlight the romance between Benedict and Sophie.
The streamer tweeted Tuesday that Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, will star in the fourth installment of the Emmy winning romance, which will also feature Sophie Beckett — whose casting has yet to be announced. Netflix on Tuesday also released a teaser announcing the news.
“Benedict Bridgerton’s Season 4 story? Let us pour some tea…” Netflix wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
Text in the teaser welcomes Benedict “to the marriage mart” before cutting from “Bridgerton” clips to backstage footage of producers knocking on Thompson’s dressing room door, saying, “I hear we’re fitting you for a suit.”
“I already have an outfit for tonight,” the 36-year-old Brit responds, script in hand.
“It’s not for tonight, it’s for the masquerade ball,” says the producer, handing Thompson his costume.
“Oh, in that case, come on in,” says Thompson.
Based on Julia Quinn’s book series of the same name, each book and season of “Bridgerton” centers on one of the eight Bridgerton siblings’ love lives in London high society.
The books’ third installment, “An Offer From a Gentleman,” does focus on the Benedict-Sophie story but hadn’t previously gotten the small screen treatment.
The Shonda Rhimes-produced period hit, which premiered in 2020, has thus far focused on Daphne and Simon (Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, respectively) as well as to Kate and Anthony (Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey).
The third season, which hit Netflix in May, centered on Penelope and Colin — played by Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton.
