The Ton is getting some new arrivals in Bridgerton season 5, including another Casanova to shake things up after Benedict’s marriage.
Netflix has confirmed the addition of three new cast members in Bridgerton season 5, including Tega Alexander as Lord Anderson’s son, Christopher, Jacqueline Boatswain as Helen Stirling, Michaela’s mother, and Gemma Knight Jones as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, Michaela’s friend.

Alexander’s Christopher Anderson is described as “a Regency-era Casanova,” suggesting he’ll take the place of bachelor characters like Anthony and Benedict in the Ton prior to their marriages. While Netflix indicated Christopher “could give the Bridgerton bachelors a run for their money,” he’s also said to have “a present of self-doubt that threatens to unravel him.” Christopher is a brand-new character original to the Netflix series, as Lord Anderson and his family did not appear in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton books.
With Bridgerton season 5’s love story focusing on Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), it was expected that more figures from the latter’s personal life would join the ensemble. Among the biggest new additions will be Michaela’s mother, Helen, who is “the very source of her bold dauhter’s spirit.” Helen will help guide Michaela through the social season, with help from Michaela’s old friend Lady Elizabeth Ashworth.
Before joining Bridgerton, Tega Alexander appeared in Paramount+’s hit crime thriller series MobLand season 1 as well as Hulu’s detective series Red Eye. Meanwhile, Jacqueline Boatswain is known for her roles in Hulu’s Red Eye, Carnival Row, After the Flood, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Gemma Knight Jones also notably starred in the cast of MobLand season 1, with other notable roles including parts in Andor and Professor T.
Season 5 is already currently in production, gearing up for a speedy return following the twists and turns of Bridgerton season 4’s ending in February. The season concludes with Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek’s marriage, a new Lady Whistledown taking over from Penelope, and the aftermath of the death of Francesca’s husband and Michaela’s cousin, John Stirling.
Currently, Bridgerton season 5 does not have an official release date or window on Netflix. However, with production now underway, the series is expected to make its triumphant return as early as spring or summer 2027. After season 5, Bridgerton season 6 has also been renewed, which is set to follow the love story of Eloise Bridgerton.
With eight Bridgerton siblings and books, the series is predicted to have as many seasons, perhaps extending the show’s Netflix dominance into 2030 after originally premiering in 2020. As Bridgerton continues through each sibling’s love story, the question also remains of which original stars will continue to recur throughout each season with its ever-changing ensemble.
