Bridgerton Star Regé-Jean Page Reacts to Bond Rumors And His Answer Says It All tpa1

Bridgerton alum Rege-Jean Page has finally addressed the ongoing rumors that he’d be taking over for Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

The 38-year-old star of the upcoming film You, Me & Tuscany, admitted during a digital photoshoot for Esquire UK that he believed the chatter surrounding him possibly replacing Daniel, 58, as the 007 agent “strange.” In 2021, the Elizabeth star departed the decade-long franchise, leaving Rege to be considered a frontrunner after his strong performance as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, in Netflix’s Bridgerton, captivated audiences.

Many Bond fans are hoping this year it will be revealed that Rege will be announced as the next Bond, as they expect the actor who will play the spy going forward to be revealed.

However, Rege has described the repeated questioning to be “strange” and “not normal” to him.

“How I navigate it is very much about what is useful, what serves me in my job, in being able to deliver what I need to deliver to an audience, and a lot of that is just grounding,” he told Equire UK

“It does get quite loud on the inside, like it was very, very intense, that combination of conversation, and I think I worked quite consciously to be able to navigate that environment with some normalcy for myself,” Rege continued.

James Bond fans continuously rotate which actors they predict will be the next 007, with Euphoria star Jacob Elordi being one of the recent picks following his sexy role role in Wuthering Heights.

Additionally, actors including, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Idris Elba, Theo James, Jonathan Bailey, James Norton, Jack Lowden and Henry Cavill, have also been suggested to step into the role of James Bond.

So far, there’s only been a director that has been linked to the forthcoming Bond movie, and that is Dune’s filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.

Denis is also set to executive produce the film along with Tanya Lapointe. It’s not uncommon for there to be a long gap in between Bond films as there was a six-year gap between the 1989 movie License to Kill, which was Timothy Dalton’s final film, and the 1995 movie GoldenEye, which was the first to star Pierce Brosnan.

While Rege may or may not be the next James Bond, he will be on the silver screen on April 10, acting opposite of Halle Bailey in the romantic comedy, You, Me & Tuscany.

The film is directed by Kat Coiro, and sees Halle as Anna, a young cook who impulsively lives in a vacant Italian villa, and Rege as the cousin of the owner of the villa, Michael.
