Bridgerton star Simone Ashley has landed her next lead movie role in thriller This Tempting Madness.
After being the breakout star of Bridgerton’s second season as Kate Sharma (and a full three seasons at Moordale in Sex Education), Ashley has taken the lead in an indie thriller (via Deadline).
This Tempting Madness, which has already wrapped production, was directed by Jennifer E. Montgomery, from a script written with her husband Andrew M. Davis.
Reportedly based on a true story, the film is a psychological thriller.
A young woman (Ashley) awakens from a coma after being seriously injured. Her memory is also fractured, and she finds that her husband has been arrested.
But, as she begins to piece together what happened in her past, she begins to question her own actions, as well as her perception of reality.
No release date has yet been announced.
Ashley is set to reprise her role of Viscountess Kate Sharma in the third season of the hugely popular Bridgerton series.
The season recently released new teaser photos, one of which showed Kate and Anthony (played by Jonathon Bailey) in a passionate embrace following their marriage at the end of season two.
Further images teased more plot points for the show, including the season’s focal romance between Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (aka Lady Whistledown, played by Nicola Coughlan).
It was previously confirmed that Bridgerton season 3 will launch in two parts during spring 2024, with the first batch of episodes arriving on May 16 and the second on June 13.
