Bridgerton and Sex Education actor Simone Ashley has landed her next role on the silver screen as she’s set to star alongside Brad Pitt in a new sports movie.
She’s been confirmed alongside Pitt and Black Mirror star Damson Idris in the cast of F1, a Formula 1 racing film.
This news comes after F1 recently released a high-octane trailer for the movie, teasing a look at Pitt behind the wheel.
The upcoming movie will follow Sonny Hayes (Pitt), a former Formula 1 driver who returns to the sport.
The story sees Hayes take on a mentoring role as he partners with rookie racer Joshua Pearce (Idris) on APCGP, a fictional 11th team on the grid.
Ashley, Pitt and Idris are in good company on the petrol-head project as there are several other famous faces confirmed in the F1 cast.
The Banshees of Inisherin star Kerry Condon, Dune’s Javier Bardem, Ted Lasso’s Sarah Niles, The Crown actor Tobias Menzies, and Our Flag Means Death star Samson Kayo are all set to star in the upcoming film.
A real Formula 1 icon is also attached to the movie, as British racing driver Lewis Hamilton is credited as a producer through his Dawn Apollo Films company.
Meanwhile, Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Jerry Bruckheimer is also listed as a producer and Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski is signed-on to direct.
Reflecting on his experience filming F1, Idris confessed he was “shaking” on his first day.
“I look to my left, it’s Brad Pitt. I look to my right, it’s Javier Bardem. I look at my hands, they’re shaking,” he told Vanity Fair. “And we shoot all of this epic stuff and all the amazing drivers are there, from Lewis [Hamilton] to [Max] Verstappen to everyone.”
F1 will be released in cinemas in summer 2025.
