Bridgerton: Who Does Hyacinth Bridgerton Marry?

Spoilers below.

The second half of Bridgerton’s two-part third season has arrived, giving us closure on the Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington romance. But while the back half of season 3 is full of drama as Colin finds out that his beloved fiancee is none other than the ‘ton’s gossip monger Lady Whistledown, fans are already looking ahead to the future seasons of the series that will spotlight the romantic arcs of the other Bridgerton siblings.

So far we’ve watched Daphne, Anthony, Colin, and, to a lesser extent this season, Francesca, wade their way through the thick waters of the courting season, but fans of the book are eager to see Hyacinth’s love story play out onscreen, even though it will likely be a few years before we get to her.

The Shondaland series on Netflix is based on Julia Quinn’s book series of the same name, and Hyacinth’s book It’s in His Kiss will give the youngest Bridgerton an escapade for the ages. So who exactly does she end up with in the novel?

She endures four years as an eligible bachelorette and several failed proposals.

In “It’s In His Kiss,” we find our central Bridgerton on her fourth season looking for a husband. It’s rough out there for Hyacinth, but she’s being picky about finding her happily ever after and none of the proposals that have come through are to her liking. She is a Bridgerton after all, and a love match is of utmost importance.

Hyacinth marries Lady Danbury’s grandson.

Hyacinth and Lady Danbury are especially close in the books, and after spending an inordinate amount of time together, Lady Danbury secretly invites her grandson Gareth St. Clair to a social event where the two can mingle. Gareth is a rake of the first order, so Hyacinth is initially not interested in pursuing him romantically, but Lady Danbury’s encouragement and their sizzling chemistry leaves her wanting more.

Utilizing Hyacinth’s weekly meetings with Lady Danbury, the elder matchmaker concocts a plan for the young Bridgerton to help Gareth translate his other grandmother’s Italian diary, which holds the key to the future of his estate and family after it is revealed that he’s not his father’s child. The needed translations are a device to bring the two together repeatedly and they grow closer.

The two fall in love during a jewelry heist.

Hyacinth discovers that Gareth’s grandmother has hidden expensive jewelry in the family’s London home, and she accompanies him on a mission to find it before his evil father does. While they don’t find the treasure on their first attempt, it’s during this extended time spent together that Gareth realizes he has strong feelings for Hyacinth and decides to ask for her hand in marriage.

We’ll likely see Hyacinth’s story on screen in a few years, with Florence Hunt remaining in the lead role.

The seventh of eight books in the series, Hyacinth’s story will likely be one of the last to make it to the screen. Staying close to the book not only allows the storylines to unfold organically, but also allows the actors playing the younger roles to age appropriately and avoid recasting. Unconfirmed Internet speculation expects Hyacinth’s story to come out around 2030, which would place the now-17-year-old Hunt at 23—the perfect age to fall in love.
