Coughlan noted that the song, now streaming on all music platforms, will raise funds for Not a Phase and The Trevor Project.
An interview for Hits Radio UK went viral where Coughlan said, “You know when the Real Housewives release pop songs exclusively for gay men. That’s like my dream job.”
She continued, “They don’t even really sing. They just list things. They’re like, ‘Shoes, and private yachts. Caviar, and more shoes.’”
Coughlan was clearly inspired by former Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps, who has made a career of releasing singles which use the listing technique.
In “Chic C’est La Vie,” De Lesseps lists, “Gems, jets, silhouette, champagne in the sky. Fine premieres and fireworks, every single night. Gold, diamonds, caviar, life is but a dream. When everyday you’re living in is featured on TV.”
